Katrina out of item song

Katrina Kaif may say see wants to be taken as a serious actress but she doesn’t want to shed her glamourous image. She is keen on doing an item song in Rajneeti.

Katrina is playing a sari-clad, dignified neta ala Sonia Gandhi in the film. Her character doing an item song seems pretty far-fetched and bizarre. Such things used to happen in the 90s.

A source tells us, ‘Katrina has had great dance numbers like Jee Karda, Mere Sang, Dilruba, Paisa and Main tera dhadkan in the past. She also wants to do the item song in Rajneeti even though it is not in-sync with her character. She wants to be taken seriously as an actress but she isn’t willing to give up her glamourous image. Katz is trying to convince director Prakash Jha to let her do the song.’

The source adds, ‘Prakash Jha is not someone to give into such silly demands. He will not compromise on the authenticity of his film. All his movies have had item numbers featuring known or unknown faces. For instance, Gangaajal had an item song with Maanyata, who was a struggling actress then. He has made it clear to Katrina that it doesn’t make sense for her to feature in the song.

Jha is in talks with other actresses to do the club song which has been composed by Pritam. Ranbir Kapoor is not part of the song so it doesn’t make sense for Katrina to feature in it either unless they use it as a video to play during the end credits. In that case, both Ranbir and Katrina can recreate their Ajab Prem chemistry and feature in sexy avatars. If the song is in the movie, Ranbir and Katrina will not be part of it.’

Prakash Jha said, ‘Katrina wants to do the song but I am yet to finalize aspects of the song and I am talking to several actresses to feature in it.’
